I came up with the ideas of engraving long boards on my water bottle and notebook covers because I enjoy long boarding. I cut out the 11.7 on my notebook because that was how fast I went when I long boarded for the first time. I looked up clip arts of long boards and found two that looked very similar. These were the exact long boards that I decided to engrave.
In order to create the projects I had to make them in illustrator and make sure the colors were correct so that it would only engrave or completely cut out. I also had to put the thickness of the the line to 0.0001 in order for it to work correctly. Instead of putting the design onto a thumb drive like I did for the key-chain, I just logged into the computer hooked up to the laser and opened the file from there. From then on I just had to export the file to the UCP software and line everything up and hit print.
What I learned from the laser group is that using technology is simple and easy. II normally don't understand computers but I learned how to use UCP software to a bigger extent then the key-chain. I also learned how to switch out the rotational jig for the water bottles and not water bottles.
